Nightingale chapter holds official visit
Christine Cary, a member of Troy Chapter No. 405, and District Deputy Grand Matron of the Tenth District of the Grand Chapter of Missouri, Order of the Eastern Star, made her official visit to Nightingale Chapter No. 117 on Monday, June 10 at the Masonic Temple in Louisiana.
Worthy Matron Kathy Waite and Worthy Patron Steve Waite presided and welcomed several guests; Altha Marsh, Worthy Matron of Troy Chapter and a dual member with Nightingale, Leroy Finke, Worthy Patron of Jonesburg Chapter No. 353 and Past Matrons and Patrons present were Brenda Finke and Jerry Bradford of Jonesburg, Marie and Francis Wells of Lighthouse Chapter No. 194 of Hannibal, and Charlene Osterhaus and Phil Cary of Troy Chapter. Also welcomed was Kari Bradford of Jonesburg.
Several of the guests participated in the ritualist work of the order during the evening. A report was given on the reception held on June 9 for long-time members of the chapter. A good crowd attended. Present to receive their honors were: Steve Waite, 35 years; Terrace Boudinier and Dorothy Kuntz, 60 years; and Eileen Waite, 65 years. Pins and letters of congratulations will be mailed to those who were not present to receive the pins Sunday.
The district deputy thanked the chapter for performing the required work and congratulated the officers on their proficiency. She said that her visits to Troy and to Alexander Chapter No. 242 in St. Charles would also be held this week.
Chapter members hosted a social hour following the meeting in the dining room of the Temple where a variety of snack foods and desserts were served. The next meeting of the chapter will be Monday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. Then the chapter will recess for the months of July and August.
