Louisiana High grads earn Hardin scholarships
The Louisiana R-II School Board recently released the names of 26 recent LHS graduates who received money from the Louisiana’s own Hardin Scholarship Fund.

Class of 2011 — Alonzo Findley, Jennifer Calvin, Lorel-ei Smith, Meghan Cunningham.
Class of 2012 — Candance Smith, Cade Waddell, Kristina Henderson, Leah Norvell, Na’Kea Shepherd, Leah Norvell, and Sarah Hoffman.
Class of 2013 —Angela Grant, Cortney Francis, Devin Bryant, Dalton Channell, Haley Heil, Karla Sippely, Leah Logan, Lin Ling, Molly Naxera, Robyn Johnson and Sarah Richey.
The Hardin Fund was established by Neil “Cam” Hardin and his wife, Gloria Hardin, who were silent movie stars in California in the 1920s.
When they returned home to Mr. Hardin’s native town of Louisiana, they started a scholarship fund in 1949 to help a young Louisiana woman get funding for a prestigious eastern college.
That gave the couple the idea to set up a permanent scholarship fund for Louisiana High students.
