Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.
Pike County Memorial Hospital has participated in the Relay for Life with a team for 15 years raising nearly $100,000. Team PCMH planned five fundraising events this year, one for each month, May through September. The traditional PCMH Silent Auction was in May and a huge success in producing $1,200.
Shakespeare Pizza sales are in full swing for June. The deadline for pizza sales is June 14 with delivery set for June 28. To place an order, you may contact a Team PCMH member or call 754-5531, ext. 106.
Team PCMH will host a barbeque on Friday, July 12 in the front lawn of the hospital. The menu is brown bag again this year with a grilled hamburger or hot dog, chips, cookies, and a soda. Pre-orders are encouraged by calling (573) 754-5531, ext. 106.
August is the official schedule for a gun auction. A Browning 12 gauge shotgun will be the prize.
The final project before the Pike County Relay for Life is a co-ed softball tournament tentatively scheduled for Labor Day weekend.
One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. The money raised at relay helps save lives by funding cancer research, early detection and prevention, education, advocacy efforts, and life-affirming patient services.
