The Pike County Democratic Club met on May 16 at the Cozy C Campground with a carry-in dinner.
President Jerri Harrelson called the meeting to order. Marion Meier led the group in prayer. Cathy Mitchell, secretary, read the minutes from the April meeting. Patti Crane, treasurer, presented a financial report. Elected officials, central committee members and guests were introduced.
The club discussed buying a donkey to use in the parades. A letter was received from the Pike County Fair about a booth and ad in the fair book. The club voted to have an ad in the fair book.
A committee is being formed to have regional meetings with area democratic clubs to start preparing for elections to be held in 2014.
Sherry McCarty, vice president, started the discussion about the upcoming fish fry to be held on Friday, June 21 at the American Legion in Louisiana.
Volunteers are needed to help fry the fish, bring covered dishes and desserts. Members are asked to bring a guest.
