Emily Barnes, of Louisiana, has been awarded the First Presbyterian Church’s Frier-Pribe Scholarship for the 2013-2014 school year.
Emily is the daughter of Jeff and Dawn Barnes of Louisiana. Emily is a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Emily graduated from Louisiana High School in 2009. She served in numerous organizations including: honor roll, four years; National Honor Society, two years; student council representative, four years; Future Farmers of America, and Spanish Club. She also received several art awards.
Emily went on a school trip to Europe and traveled in Spain, Italy, and France. She also participated in high school sports including softball, three years; and basketball, 3 1/2 years. Emily enjoys sports events, drawing, and received her Girl Scout Bronze award.
Emily is now attending the University of Missouri-St Louis. She plans to complete her undergraduate degree in psychology during the next school year.
Ms. Mary Elizabeth Pribe endowed the Frier-Pribe Scholarship approximately 40 years ago and the amount of the 2013-2014 award is $3,000.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a Louisiana High School graduate and member of the Louisiana Presbyterian Church who is furthering his or her education.
