The 79th annual Sophomore Pilgrimage was held in Jefferson City on April 9.
This pilgrimage has been established since 1934. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Missouri, Inc., believe their earnest desire to promote greater interest in the obligations and privileges of citizenship can be promoted by the Pilgrimage which enables students to see their state government in action.
Ordinarily, citizenship government are in the school curriculum by this time, and the sophomore schedules is usually not as full as during the Junior and Senior years.
The day is planned by the state, district, and local club Sophomore Pilgrimage chairmen along with guide, lecture, decoration, publicity, award certificate, information, and registration by chairpersons from the two clubs in Jefferson City — Capital City Woman’s Club and Dianas Club.
Assistance is sometimes provided by other volunteers from throughout the state.
Three sophomores from Pike County and one from Lincoln County were sponsored by GFWC Clubs: Logan Loeffler, of Frankford, represented the Bowling Green School District, and was sponsored by the GFWC Heir Study Club of Bowling Green; Lauren Lagemann, of Eolia, represented the Clopton School District, and was sponsored by the GFWC Aeolian Club of Eolia; and Carley Heil represented the Louisiana School District and was sponsored by the GFWC Chautauqua Club of Clarksville.
