“For God’s sake” is not a pejorative term for the Rev. Jeanne Webdell.
It is the explanation of her quest.
Webdell will preach for the last time from the pulpit of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Louisiana and the Clarksville United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 23.
Webdell, 70, will move back to her native home of Kirkwood in the St. Louis suburbs soon after.
The minister will miss her mission here but has no regrets. Ten years along the Mississippi River has done a lot for her and the community.
“There’s the feeling that when you’re doing God’s work, nothing can outweigh that,” Webdell said. “You see God’s love in action and see how it transforms people’s lives.
“You learn from the people in the community and it’s nice to be able to share people’s lives.”
