The Louisiana Bulldogs baseball team racked up four victories last week with outstanding pitching producing three shutouts.
The Bulldogs are now 10-1 on the rain-shortened season.
The Bulldogs showed their resolve in an 11-inning victory over Highland at home on Monday, April 29.
A Louisiana fielding mishap gave up an early lead, but the Bulldogs came back with four runs in the sixth inning to tie it, 6-6.
That’s the way it stayed until the 11th inning, as senior pitcher Dylan Smith kept the Bulldogs in the game in relief.
That’s when Louisiana showed that little things can win a baseball game.
Senior second baseman Ryan Cashman took a pitch in the back and was awarded first base. Cashman stole second and went to third on a wild pitch.
With two outs, Smith layed down a perfect squeeze bunt, and raced over first base with a single as Cashman slid across the plate head- first with the winning run.
