As part of BONCL’s recent Spirit Week celebration, the students chose to give back to the community by taking up a collection for the Twin Pike Family YMCA Phase III aquatics center fundraising project.
BONCL students raised $56.92 for the YMCA pool project and delivered a total donation of $206.92. Matching $50 donations from the school’s General Mills box tops program, BONCL Student Council and the BONCL Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) were added to the funds collected by the students.
The seventh- and eighth-grade class had the highest percentage of participation during Spirit Week. Those students were invited to accompany BONCL Principal/Superintendent Cassie Huckstep-Spangler to the YMCA on April 8, to present the donation to Twin Pike Family YMCA Executive Director Marsha Garrison.
“Students stepping forward to help our YMCA grow is so heart-warming. It helps reaffirm just how important the indoor pool project is to persons of all ages in the communitites we serve,” said Garrison. “The Y board of directors and the staff sincerely appreciate the support of the BONCL students.”
