Eastern Star to have ‘Go to Church’ in Louisiana
Nightingale Chapter No. 117 members plan to attend church together at the 11 a.m. service on April 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Louisiana and then have lunch at a local restaurant.
“Go to Church” Sunday is an annual event and all Eastern Star chapters in Missouri participate. The chapter met on Monday, April 8 at the Masonic Temple in Louisiana with Worthy Matron Kathy Waite presiding.
The chapter charter was draped in memory of Merrell Graves of Foley and a contribution will be sent to the Scottish Rite RiteCare speech therapy clinic in Elsberry as a memorial.
Painting and other updating is being done in the ballroom of the Temple as the Louisiana High School Junior-Senior Prom will be held at the Temple on April 27. Members of Perseverance Lodge No. 92 AF&AM are in charge of the work.
Proposed changes in the chapter bylaws were approved and plans were made to attend Friendship Night at Grace Chapter No. 323 in Warrenton.
Plans were completed for the official visit of District Deputy Grand Matron Christine Cary on Monday, May 13. Members are asked to provide a dish for the refreshments following the meeting that night.
The chapter will have a lasagna dinner for the public on Friday, June 21 at the Temple from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold in advance as well as at the door.
Steve and Kathy Waite hosted the social hour and celebrated the beginning of baseball season with peanuts, popcorn, cracker jacks and soda.
