Flood over Hwy. 79 north of Louisiana, rains coming
The Mississippi River continued to rise on Monday morning, April 22, and Hwy. 79 north of Louisiana was closed when water came over the roadway between Hwy. YY and Hwy. B.
In addition, flood water was up to the railroad tracks at the riverfront in Louisiana and crept up to the foot of North Carolina Street.
The National Weather Service reported the river is near cresting in Pike County, but additional rains are predicted for Monday night and on Tuesday, April 23. Some of Tuesday’s storms could produce strong winds and large hail.
In addition, there is a slight chance of snow on Wednesday, April 24, and another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, April 26.
