Another ray of hope has appeared for Louisiana-area residents seeking a local full-service grocery store.
Mayor Tom Wallace announced at the Monday, April 1 city council meeting that a grocer would be in town to look at buildings on Tuesday, April 2.
The grocer wants to remain anonymous until he sees if there are any prospects for him, according to Wallace and City Administrator Bob Jenne.
The grocer will look at the former Clancey Boyer auto dealership building at Kelly Lane and Hwy. 54 and the former Kroger and ALPS grocery store buildings on Georgia Street, Wallace said.
Niemann Foods has been trying to establish a new County Market at the site of the old Kroger store on Georgia treet but has been stymied by an existing Kroger lease agreement that is good through September.
