The Twin Pike Family YMCA 21st CCLC before- and after- school program has been going full throttle since the beginning of the year.
The weather has been an interesting challenge, but maybe now we can roll in the spring-like weather.
We have been very busy with several enrichment classes which have included: “I Felt Like Painting” with Loretta Woodward, “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Wild Rhymes” with Sheri Grote, and “Whole Grain Sugars” with Vanessa Thomas.
We have a few classes to finish which will include: “Spanish Word” with Helen Boyd, “Backing Into Art” with Loretta Woodward, “Tie-Dye Toys” with Sheri Grote, “Plant Actual Food” and “Eating Rainbow Flavors” with Vanessa Thomas.  These classes are provided for by the Henry Lay Foundation.
Our main goal here at Louisiana is homework. We set aside some part of the day for the students to work on their homework and to gain or reinforce their regular school day curriculum in the areas of math, science, and language arts.
We offer several mini reading and math courses Mondays and Tuesdays. STEM is our new program we are participating in this year. This stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The students have enjoyed the science tremendously!
The students who are participating in the program have stated that they really enjoy the different activities.  Most of all they enjoy the gym or outside.
If you are interested in sending your child to the Louisiana 21st CCLC Y after school Program, or if you have any questions, please contact Melinda Brooks at 573-754-0270 or Wendy or Dale at 573-754-4999.
We feel the Y Program is a fun, safe, educational, and great place to be after school!
