BONCL seventh grader Lucas Strieker enjoys writing and it showed when he recently won the Missouri Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) annual state essay contest.
“No one from Pike County has ever won this prestigious award,” said his teacher, Kathy Yates. “We are very proud of Lucas.”
When he learned of his writing award, “I was very excited,” Strieker said.
Yates seventh- and eighth-grade class took the contest on as a class project in October and had their essays initially judged by the Pike County Chapter of the D.A.R. Eighth- grade student Terrance Ledbetter also won at the district level.
