Animal OrdinanceIf your dog or cat leaves his deposit in a city park or cemetery, you will have to scoop it up immediately under a lengthy revision of  Louisiana’s animal and fowl ordinance.
Anyone who doesn’t scoop the poop and dispose of it is guilty of a misdemeanor and a fine ranging from $100 to  $150.
The revised ordinance was given its first reading passage at the Feb. 11 meeting of the city council on a 6-1 vote. Only Councilman Chuck Hoffman voted against it, saying he didn’t think it was ready yet.
The law would go into effect upon a second reading set for the March 11 council  meeting.
Copies of the revised law are now available at the Louisiana City Hall at 202 S. Third St.
