In the wake of the Newtown Conn. school shootings, the Louisiana R-II School District is already moving on better security.
Parent volunteers who watch the building have been in place since Wednesday, Jan. 23. New signs are up directing foot traffic and deliveries are now made at a hig school door that suppliers have to be buzzed through, according to Superintendent Dr. Richard Basden.
Those visiting the middle and high school campus complex have to come through the main entrance of the high school now and are directed into the office.
Staff members have received training on how to handle intruders and Louisiana Police are taking daily walks through the buildings as well.
