Twelve Clopton High School track and field athletes will compete at the state Class 1 track meet at Lincoln University in Jefferson City on Friday, May 23 and
Saturday, May 24.
The eight boys team members and four girls team members qualified for the state meet after a strong showing at the Class 1, Section 1 meet held at Principia in St. Louis County on Saturday, May 17. The boys set two Clopton school records at the meet.
Here are the boys results from that meet.
Discus, senior Ryan Robbins, second place at 133-9.
Shotput, senior Danny Somers, third at 44-7.
200 meter dash, senior Travis Kuykendall, fourth at 23.84.
400 meter dash, senior Jack Hicks, first at 51.5, a new school record.
4×100 meter relay, first at 46.02. The team included seniors Devin Linton, Ryan Booher, Kuykendall, and junior Daniel Reading.
4×200 meter relay, second at 1:34.28, a new school record. Team members included senior Danny Thompson, Hicks, Kuykendall and Reading.
Here are the girls results.
Long jump, junior Katie Klopcic, second at 15-10.
Triple jump, senior Shelby Dunn, fourth at 33-2.
4×100 meter relay, third at 53.89. Team members were senior Sarah Huckstep, Dunn, Klopcic and sophomore Jaime Denslow.
4×200 meter relay, first at 1:52.25. Team members were the same as the 4×100 meter relay squad.
