Many Louisiana High School alumni have suggested the Louisiana Alumni and Friends Association sponsor a dinner somewhere other than the school. They’ve spoken and the association has listened!
At a recent LHS Alumni and Friends Association planning meeting, plans were made for the annual all-school reunion during Colorfest weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 18 the high/middle schools will be open for tours from 3–5 p.m. Interested alumni will be able to take a walk “back in time” and see the recent improvements to the campus.
From 5–6:30 p.m. a social hour/mixer will be open to alumni and friends at the Louisiana Elks.
This will allow all alumni from various classes to visit and see how many from their high school days they recognize years later. A dinner for those with reservations will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks. During the events at the Elks a cash bar will be available.
Later that evening, there will be live entertainment/a dance featuring the band Country Soul. This will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Other items discussed included the four scholarships available for this year’s graduating seniors. Applications may be picked up from Mrs. Leake, the LHS counselor, with a deadline of March 31.
It was agreed the alumni newsletter will be mailed or emailed in late July to all alumni and friends for whom the group has addresses and email addresses.
Membership chairman Mike Pratt will be emailing a request for persons to reconfirm their email and contact information so the group may email as many as possible to save printing and postage costs.
The coordinator(s) of any graduating class planning a reunion in 2014, regardless of date, is asked to let Walter Logan know their plans so they can be included in this year’s newsletter. Email it to email@example.com or call 573-795-1647.
Discussion took place on membership and a new financial support structure. A committee was appointed to review any by-law changes necessary to accommodate such a structure.
The next planning committee meeting will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. at the First Christian Church.
