Louisiana city council candidate leaves race
Louisiana Ward 2 city council candidate Bruce McKenna has decided to bow out of the race.
McKenna said Friday, Feb. 28 he will be moving into a different ward in six months to one year and did not want to leave Ward 2 without representation.
McKenna’s name will still appear on the ballot on Tuesday, April 8, unless he chooses to pay to print new ballots without his name on them, according to Donna Wiss of the Pike County Clerk’s office.
McKenna said he would probably not pay for new ballots and would decline to serve if elected.
That would leave the position up for appointment by the new mayor and subsequent approval by the council, according to Louisiana City Clerk Sharon Kakouris.
