Boy Scout waffle breakfast

On Feb. 15 the scouts and families of Boy Scout Troop 156 joined with members of First Christian Church to serve a very successful waffle breakfast fundraiser in the church’s fellowship hall.
More than 75 people came to enjoy a delicious breakfast as well as wonderful fellowship. The young men prepared the batter, baked the waffles, and helped with serving and clean-up. For their efforts and through the kind additional donations of many who attended, a total of $567 was raised to help the scouts attend summer camp in Colorado this year.
The church started the Troop almost 50 years ago and is continuing to serve as its sponsor.
The next day the scouts participated in the worship service at the church by observing a belated National Boy Scout Sunday.   After formally bringing in the flags, leading the pledge, and saying the Scout oath, they enjoyed a sermon prepared especially for the occasion by Duke DuVall, a former Boy Scout himself.
DuVall, a former Clarksville resident who now resides in St. Louis, has been the guest speaker at the church during the month of February.   His weekly 30-minute television program “Conquering Your Giants” airs on Quincy Christian TV-WTJR and his daily five-minute recorded broadcast, “The Moment Of Inspiration,” is available nationwide by phone 24 hours a day toll-free at 1-800-939-5689 and worldwide online at http://www.dukeduvall.com.
