Chamber to offer new program in 2014
Chris Koetters, director of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce along with the chamber board is excited to offer a new program to employees of chamber businesses called Leadership Louisiana.
The 22-hour curriculum focuses on key aspects of the community including government, commerce, tourism, economic development, healthcare and education.
Koetters says that the program, which will start in April, will give employees a unique chance to meet face to face with community leaders.
“The goal of this program is to connect new employees and executives with key leaders in the community,” He said. “Students of the program will get an opportunity to tour various businesses in town and meet with business and elected leaders in our community.”
Leadership Louisiana will kick off on April 16 with an orientation dinner which will provide an overview of the upcoming courses. Training sessions will occur every other Wednesday following orientation with sessions beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding at 1 p.m.
“We planned these training session in the middle of the week to reduce any strain that may occur from missing an employee from the job site. All sessions will conclude at 1 p.m. sharp so the students can return back to work” says Koetters.
The four training sessions will run during the months of April, May and June and will cover the following topics: Session one — government on April 23, Session two — commerce and industry on May 7, Session three — tourism and economic development on May 21, Session four — healthcare and education on June 4.
Graduation will be held during the final session.
Transportation and lunch will be provided with the students receiving a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the program. Also during the last session the employer will be invited to the graduation ceremony and enjoy a free lunch.
The cost of the program is $200 and includes all training material, meals and transportation. Registration deadline is April 11. For a registration application or for more information call the Chamber office (573)-754-5921.
