Irma Lenk, 93, of Silex, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Elsberry Healthcare Center near Elsberry.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 10, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood, with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
Memorials may be given to the St. Alphonsus School or your choice of a hospice.
James Caffray, age 69, of Bowling Green, formerly of St. Louis, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at the St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis. Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Bowling Green United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Gillen officiating. Services were under the direction of the pastor and family.
He was born May 14, 1944 in St. Louis County, the son of James and Ellen H. Booth Caffray. He married Carol Ann O’Kelley May 29, 1971. She survives. Other survivors include sons James Buffington and wife Holly of Ormond Beach, Fla.; Robert Buffington Jr. and wife Carrie of St. Peters; daughter Jennifer Parker and husband Craig of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren Joshua, Jason, Sean, Christopher, Kyle, Caitlin, and Nick; three great-grandchildren Mikayla, Makayla, and Kaiden; sisters Ellen Mooningham and Jane Palmer; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Tom Caffray.
James grew up in University City in St. Louis and moved to St. Charles in 1971. He and his wife resided in St. Charles County until 2002, when they moved to Lincoln County and later to Bowling Green, where he spent his last two years. He worked as an archivist for the federal government at the National Center for 23 years, until he retired in 2009. He served in the United States Navy and was a corpsman with the Marines during Vietnam. He was a member of the Bowling Green Methodist Church and a member of the Inveran Scottish Bagpipe Band.
Cremation rites were conducted according to his wishes by the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

Betty Jean Perkins, 81, of Silex, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at the Silex Community Care Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Briscoe Holiness Church in Silex with Rev. George Prior, Rev. Richard Perkins III, and Rev. Sammy Lorton officiating. Burial will be at the Mill Creek Cemetery at Silex.
Betty was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Loyd and Pearl Mitchell Crispen. She married Richard E. (Perk) Perkins Sr., July 15, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away July 18, 2013.
Survivors include one son, Richard Eugene Perkins Jr. and wife Dorothy of Houston; five daughters, Margaret Cox and husband Terry of Troy, Phyllis Klober and husband Kelly of Silex, Janet Slawson of Silex, Donna Porter and husband Wesley of Montgomery City, and Cathy Govero and husband Philip of New Hartford; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Robert Sifrit and wife Mina of McPherson, Kan.; nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother Harold Crispen; son-in-law Ernie Slawson; and step-mother Wilma Crispen.
Betty lived in Iowa until she was 18, when she moved to the Silex area. She was a member of the Briscoe Holiness Church. Betty worked all the time, serving several roles within Rosedale Nursing Home in Silex. Most of all she was a dedicated mother to her children.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Bruning, Nathan Klaas, Bradley Porter, Kendel Bruning, John Maris, and Jason Owen.

Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Frances Louise Walker, 87, of Tuscumbia, Mo., formerly of Eolia, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 15 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. The Rev. Randall Cone will officiate. Collier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
