MoDOT plans roadwork using diamond grinding on Hwys. 54 and 61
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded contracts for road surface improvements for next summer on Hwys. 61 and 54 in Audrain, Pike and Ralls counties.
Interstate Improvement, Inc. of Faribault, Minn. was awarded the contract for almost $937,000.
Diamond grinding will be used on various areas of Hwy. 61 in Pike and Ralls, and Hwy. 54 in Audrain and Pike counties.
Diamond grinding is a technique used to preserve the existing pavement by correcting a variety of surface issues.
The immediate effect of diamond grinding is a significant improvement in the smoothness of a pavement and increased surface skid resistance, noise reduction and safety.
The work is expected to begin after April and be completed by Nov. 1. More information will be available when the project start date is determined.
