Improvements completed at Masonic Temple
The roof of Louisiana’s historic Masonic Temple has been replaced, along with cleaning and capping the five flues in the building.
Worthy Matron Kathy Waite, secretary of the Masonic Temple Board, reported on the work completed at the Nov. 11 meeting of Nightingale Chapter No. 117. Other work included replacing the old stone wall to the rear entrance with a new concrete retaining wall and new steps to the sidewalk as well.
The temple is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most outstanding Masonic buildings in Missouri. Nightingale Chapter secretary Marilyn Johnson is also a member of the Temple board.
Chapter members are invited to attend the installation of officers of Alexander Chapter No. 242 on Saturday, Nov. 30 beginning at 3 p.m. in St. Charles, Jonesburg Chapter No. 353 on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with dinner at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7:30, and Troy on Tuesday, Dec. 10, also with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a 7:30 meeting.
A monetary donation was made to cancer research in memory of Margaret Hollocher. Many present recalled family members’ service in the military as it was Veteran’s Day and thanks were expressed to all. Refreshments were served by Kathy and Steve Waite.
Members will bring refreshments to share following the installation of officers on Monday, Dec. 9. The installation will be held at approximately 8 p.m. following a short meeting and refreshments will be served in the dining room later. The installation is open to the public and guests are welcome.
