The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is providing information about the Affordable Care Act to residents in the Northeast Region, including Pike County.
The agency is doing the same service in the Metro St. Louis West Region consisting of St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren, Montgomery and Franklin counties.
NECAC is answering questions and distributing facts about the law at its local service centers. Community meetings are also being set up in all counties. Enrollment into the Health Insurance Marketplace began October 1 and runs through March 31, 2014.
NECAC has been awarded a contract to provide outreach, education and assist with the enrollment process. Certified application counselors have been hired, trained and licensed to answer questions and take applications. Required background checks on counselors have been done.
“We are ready to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Marketplace,” said NECAC Deputy Director for Community Service Programs Janice Robinson. “People can rest assured that they will receive the help they need in working through what can be an intimidating process.”
