Quilt class set at church
The program at the Louisiana Area Historical Museum’s annual banquet featured W. T. Johnson, of Palmyra, showing a sampler quilt of patterns designed to assist travellers on the Underground Railroad.
Inspired by his story, Helen Crew has decided to offer a class to anyone interested in learning to make a similar quilt. Starting in January, the group will meet once each month at the First Christian Church in Louisiana on a Saturday morning to work on the quilt pieces. There will be no fee for participating, but each person will need to furnish their own fabric, thread, and sewing machine. Participants need to sign up in advance by calling Crew at 573-324-3055.
Call soon, as classes will be limited to 12.
