Nightingale chapter plans for installation of new officers
Chapters in the 10th District of the Grand Chapter of Missouri, Order of the Eastern Star, will be invited to attend as Nightingale Chapter No. 117 installs officers for 2013-14 on Monday, Dec. 9.
The installation will take place after a brief regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Plans for the event were made at the Oct. 28 meeting with Worthy Matron Kathy Waite presiding.
She reported that the Masonic Temple Association is proceeding with needed repairs to the temple beginning with the installation of new steps at the rear entrance of the building. Other plans include work on flues and a new roof.
The chapter’s charter was draped in memory of Margaret Hollocher, who received a 60-year membership pin in June. She was previously a member of Silex Chapter No. 80. Resolutions of respect were read as well as a poem in her honor.
The chapter is invited to attend the installation of officers for Alexander Chapter No. 242 at the Masonic Temple in St. Charles on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. Invitations were received to receptions for newly elected officers of the Grand Chapter.
Secretary Marilyn Johnson reported that she attended the recent Missouri Grand Chapter meeting in Columbia. A 70-year membership pin was presented to Pearl Harrell of Troy Chapter No. 405, the mother of Nightingale member Linda Frank, and new state officers were installed.
A reception was held for Ann Wilson of Grace Chapter No. 323 in Warrenton, who will serve as the new District Deputy Grand Matron.
Bob and Linda Frank and Walt and Helen Crew served cake and ice cream following the meeting and all celebrated the Worthy Matron’s birthday. The next regular meeting of the chapter will be Monday, Nov. 11 with Steve and Kathy Waite hosting the fellowship following the 7:30 p.m. meeting.
